I'm up for Stockholm "Half Marathon" in September...so now you know. My shape is pretty good at the moment but that'll be ruined the coming month. Hopefully I'll be able to "crawl" back to status quo before I face the starting line. I've been running for two days in a row now while July has been supplying us with the best of weather. I know I'm sticking my head out here but during those days I've had Genesis in my headphones.
I mean I love most of their records and if I go back and listen to them, I tend to go back to the ones from the Gabriel years. Not this time, yesterday - "A trick of the tail", today - "Wind & wuthering". I know we all have different preferences and we all perceive music differently but those days, those albums spoke to me like never before. I could sense a warmth in them I hadn't noticed before. If I look at my favourite records over the years, that's the common ingredient that binds them together, being prog, hardrock, symphonic rock, pop or whatever. In this case I'm not sure if it's because of the songwriting, the production, the sound of the band or Phil's voice ( I mean how could they ever think of hiring another singer?). Anyway, I seldom get those kicks nowadays but when it happens (in the middle of the woods with my running shoes on) it sure feels great! Of course, I shall not forget...RIP Johnny Winter.
